MegansLaw.org Just Going to Go Ahead and List People in Your Neighborhood Who Aren't Sex Offenders

Acknowledging the 'overwhelming impression' a typical search result their product has on most people, MegansWatch.org has decided to go ahead and just list people in your neighborhood who aren't convicted sex offenders.

"People tend to be taken aback when they use our site to see how many sex offenders live in their area," MegansWatch spokesman Darrun Ellison stated. "The sheer number can be a little daunting and difficult to process, which is why we made the switch."

By listing neighbors who aren't pedophiles, parents can assume anyone they know or encounter not included in a report is a threat to their children, the crime watch organization reasons.

"It's a convenience of recall issue," Ellison explained. "If a search reveals that one hundred and ninety-five of your two hundred closest neighbors are sexual predators, it's a lot easier to remember the five people you can trust with your child."

Still, critics of the new approach claim it might give parents a false sense of security.

"Just because someone hasn't been convicted of a sex crime doesn't mean they aren't a sex criminal," Melanie Dinwiddle of Concerned Mothers of America remarked. "The fact is that everyone is a child molester, so if anything, these lists are only going to tell you who's the best at never getting caught."
