Filipino Scientists Produce World’s First Organic Boneless Bananas

IMG_7012.PNGLOS BAÑOS, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Move over seedless grapes. Make way for boneless bananas!

Agricultural scientists at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños (UPLB) have successfully produced an organic prototype of bananas not seen ever before anywhere in the world. They’re boneless!

The bananas have been marketed on a limited basis at selected produce markets in and around the campus. They’re being sold at 47 centavos per pound ( US $o.01)

Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol praised the Filipino scientists, saying that the new discovery puts the Philippines on the world map in as far as organic food production is concerned. He also expressed optimism that when mass-produced, the boneless variety will double or triple the country’s banana exports. “It’ll be a great boost not only to organic farmers but to our economy as a whole,” he said.
