Is Racism the New Unracism?

Fifty years after the civil rights movement made it uncool to discriminate against people based on the color of their skin, racism appears to be making a strong comeback.

"As trends go, I'd say this is one most people thought would never revive, but then again, it was pretty much the standard for thousands of years, so why not?" sociologist Devin Campbell observed.

In addition to calls to unilaterally ban Muslims from the country and renewed interest in such recently unfashionable organizations as the Ku Klux Klan, simple everyday racism is returning to mainstream America.

"It's kinda fun," one man remarked. "I called my first black person a nigger today, and you should've seen the look on that kid's face. Later, I had a Mexican come into my business and ask about a job. I told him to take a hike."

Campbell offered a couple reasons for racism's rebirth.

"It's pretty neat because it offers people a comfortable sense of superiority without them having to actually accomplish anything," he said. "Also, sometimes its just fun to get together with your friends and burn down a Halal grocery.
